Hot water from a boiler is circulated through a coil inside the indirect water heater, transferring heat to water stored in its tank to meet domestic hot water needs. Constructed of heavy-gauge steel and lined with two inches of non-CFC foam insulation, the indirect water heater reduces standby heat loss and maximizes energy efficiency. Five sizes are available – 30, 38, 45, 75 and 110 gallons – to meet both residential and commercial needs.
“This new indirect water heater serves the growing market of residential and commercial customers who want to lower fuel costs while also enjoying the benefits of hydronic or radiant floor heating,” says Rheem Commercial Product Manager Tommy Olsen. “Its durable construction features ensure a long life, thus maximizing return on investment.”
Following are key features of the new Rheem-Ruud STID Indirect Water Heater series:
Durability: The heavy-gauge steel inner tank is coated in a corrosion-resistant, high-temperature porcelain enamel and further protected by two heavy-duty magnesium anode rods. The tank is then encased in a steel jacket that is powder-coated to assure a lasting finish.
Operating efficiency: The 1-1/2” diameter of the heat-exchanger coil results in faster tank recovery during periods of high demand, as well as less pressure drop throughout the coil.
Corrosion resistance: The smooth surface of the coil and its porcelain-enamel coating protect against lime buildup and inhibit corrosion.
Sediment reduction: Standard on 75- and 110-gallon models, a sediment reduction inlet cuts buildup of performance-depressing mineral deposits on the tank bottom.
Temperature control: A factory-installed immersion aquastat provides automatic temperature control. CSA/ASME-rated temperature and pressure relief valves are factory installed.
Superior insulation: Non-CFC foam insulation decreases standby heat loss, while factory-installed dielectric nipples insulate and protect against electrolysis.
Warranty: Six-year limited warranty against tank leaks when installed in residential applications; three years for non-residential installs.
Equipped with factory-installed brass drain valves, the entire STID Indirect Water Heater Series is tested in accordance with GAMA (Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association) Indirect-Fired Water Heating Standard IWH-TS-1 – March 2003. Unit dimensions range from 22 to 28 inches in diameter, with heights from 35-3/4 inches to 65-1/4 inches. Weights span from 180 lb. for the 30-gallon model to 397 lb. on the 110-gallon model.
